I don't know if the laws are the same over there as they are here in the UK. Here in the UK you could demand a refund for something that had a fault like your camera, if they refuse we can go to 'trading standards' and they could take the retailer to court. I would certainly demand a refund if I were in your shoes. I used to have an S9600, now have a Canon EOS-50D, best camera I've ever had and well worth the money.

you scared me quite a bit! i'm just in the middle what to do with my unoperating command dial after 2 years and 3 month's. not so sure to let it repair! probably for half the price of the camera and the risk of not getting it back in reasonable time makes me hesitate. plus the fact that I 'm content with the given programs.

Dissapointed to say the least the command dial on my fuji 9500 has failed. Still waitin 2 hear from fuji NZ. Payed big bucks for a camera and now looks like I may as well biff it after 2 years
